Houston School Board makes high school easier...

No more pencils, no more books, no more teacher's dirty looks...

"City schools are dropping a policy that required city high school students to pass such core courses as English and math before they moved to the next grade. The board of the Houston Independent School District on Thursday gave preliminary approval to a new promotion policy that school officials hope will keep struggling students from getting discouraged and help cut the district's dropout rate. More than 5,000 freshmen and sophomores who would have been held back under the old policy will now be promoted." Ugh. Remember people, these 9th graders will be voters in 4 short years. After having their diplomas handed to them on a silver platter, they will expect everything to be. That's right: Houston just helped to produce 5000 more liberals. Congratulations Houston.

"Come with me if you want to live" --Governator

Ok, so he said it in T2 and I transposed. Anyway...
Governator rescues swimmer...

"Governor Schwarzenegger was in the water swimming toward his wife, Maria Shriver, when he passed by a man who was having trouble swimming and breathing. Schwarzenegger asked if he was OK and the guy said "no." So Schwarzenegger grabbed a boogie board. And, here's where all that weight training helped: While he was treading 20-foot deep water, he picked the man up, put him on the board and swam with him to shore." Cool.

Hmm. I have $6mil just sitting around doing nothing. I think I will lob some junk at the Moon...

Just when you thought you had seen it all on Ebay. Brought to you by CNN.

"Orbital Development of Carson City, Nevada, is looking for interested parties in its MoonCrash Project. For a starting bid of $6 million you can buy a commercial spacecraft project that will go to the Moon."
"Condition of the cargo cannot be guaranteed after the 4,000 mph impact (Well duh.), Orbital Development explains, although the cargo is contained within a special burst-resistant canister."

"The winning bidder will need to cool their jets for a while. It will take 15 to 18 months for the spacecraft to be designed, constructed and tested. The major client may decide the impact point on the lunar surface. The project intends to use a Russian aerospace contractor's commercial test launch vehicle to lob the craft and cargo to the Moon." Bu, bu, but I want it NOW!!! NOW NOW NOW!!!

8th grader's fellow-student-killer in Miami pleads "Not Guilty" after providing detailed confession

WTF?

"Police say Michael Hernandez, also 14, gave a detailed confession on the day of the killing. As a juvenile charged as an adult, he could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted of first-degree murder. He has pleaded not guilty." Confessing and then pleading not guilty. Umm, yeah.

"Hernandez's attorney, Richard Rosenbaum, did not return a phone message seeking comment Friday. John Spencer, a psychologist on the boy's defense team, said the number of wounds indicates "the severe disturbance of the person who inflicted them."" You aint just whistlin' Dixie...

Japan gets what Spain does not: Conceding to terrorists results in more terrorism

Japan has testicular fortitude...

Backstory: 3 Japanese citizens are being held by a group calling themselves the "Mujahadeen Squadrons," who demand that Japan remove all of its forces from Iraq or they will burn their captives alive. Bastards.

Japanese Cabinet secretary Yasuo Fukuda addressed the dilemma when questioned about the dilemma at a regular news briefing Friday. "Are you saying we should give in to them at the first threat they present to us?" he asked reporters. "That's playing into the hands of the terrorists. That is what the terrorists are waiting for us to do. Are you saying we should give in to them?" Can we send him to Spain? He seems to have the right idea...

The names of the three -- seen on passports in news footage -- are Koriyama Soichiro, who has a press card issued in Jordan for Weekly Asahi; Imai Noriaki; and Takato Nahoko, a woman. I hope that they are rescued soon.

Huh. US is biggest worldwide threat...

BBC reports that rubbish spews from mouseclicks world wide...

Two words: [Smarmy Brit Accent] Piss off. [/SBA] No, really. This may shock yall, but I really dont care what the rest of the world thinks about the US. WE DONT ANSWER TO THEM. If we do something that will affect them, we should tell them (unless its an attack or something). If they want to do something that could impact us, then we expect them to tell us or expect to hear from us, if you get my drift. Not just diplomatically, either. Although we will play nice and go that way first...

Just look at Spain. First, a bunch of trains blow up. Then, the elections happen and the Socialists decide to bendover for the terrorists. So what happens? The terrorists are emboldened and start really fucking things up. Ooopsie. I bet $5 that Spainiards dont think that the US is the biggest threat worldwide. How about you?

'Alamo' Movie Touches Raw Nerve in Mexico

Mexicans whining about history...

One word: Waaaahhhh.

This is a patriotic movie. Its meant to instill a feeling of pride in being an American, because Americans fought against tremendous odds. A small group fought a huge army and held them off for days, but eventually succumbing to the numerically superior Mexican force. You didnt hear a bunch of Brits whining and bitching about The Patriot, did you? Then Shut It™.

Shiites control parts of 3 cities while militants hold foreigners

World Net Daily Article

"Fighting in Iraq escalated today as Shiite Muslims took control of parts of three cities and insurgents kidnapped foreigners from Japan, South Korea and Jerusalem. "

"A U.S. Marine was killed in a battle to control Fallujah, while followers of Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr took full control of the city of Kut and held part of Najaf, the Associated Press reported. Insurgents also controlled part of the town of Kufa, residents said. "

"Fighting in Iraq this week has left 36 Americans dead, while at least 459 Iraqis have been killed, mostly in Fallujah. "

This crap needs to stop. First the tragic and savage deaths of the civilian contractors, now this. Our military needs to come down like the Hammer of Thor on these bastards. Al-Sadr, how does it feel to be on the US Marines's Shit List?

Kerry supported North Vietnam, and now he supports Al-Sadr, a terrorist leader...

NewsMax Article

During Kerry's interview with NPR on Wed. 4/6/04, he spoke of Al-Sadr as a "legitimate voice" of Iraq. When asked if Kerry supported the arrest of Al-Sadr, a Shiite terrorist leader, he responded with a sympathetic tone: "Not if it’s an isolated act without the other kinds of steps necessary to change the dynamics on the ground in Iraq,". I really dont understand why he wouldnt. This terrorist advocates the murder of US ground forces, blames acts of terrorism on the US ground forces, and is now calling for and supporting the murder of civilian contractors and is currently leading forces against our soldiers. Hanoi John, I have some advice for you: STFU or just admit what a globalist UN-loving anti-US socialist you really are. Stop calling yourself a patriotic American.

And as far as your trying to represent the "working and downtrodden poor person", try having had a job first. Marrying into wealth qualifys you for GOP membership, not DNC.

New political parties formed in Colorado...

Republicans accuse them of trying to take support away from the GOP...

In Colorado, 2 new political parties were formed, the Gun Owner's Rights Party and the Pro Life Party, which are two major planks of the GOP platform. Now with my political leanings (most non-social ones leaning to the starboard), I would for the most part vote straight GOP. However, I dont. My current US Rep, John Boozman would fit in perfectly with these two parties, as his support for the 2nd Amendment is only surpassed by his ardently pro-life stance, the latter being the one that I have the most trouble with (I wouldnt ban abprtion completely, but using it for birth control is absolutely abhorrent. People need to exercise a little something called Personal Responsibility).

Nationally, the GOP seems to be drifting left every year. Only on a grassroots level does it seem stationary, in people like John Boozman. Political parties like these wouldn't be springing up if the GOP wasnt pandering to the left and making us choose the lesser of two evils, one George W. Bush. Personally, if its not close between sKerry and Bush, I'm going LP. Screw evil, its time for me to vote my convictions.

I always wanted a helicopter-shaped paperweight...

I sure am glad that we Americans arent alone in our government's retarded spending habits. According to The Age, an Austrailian newspaper, Britain bought All-Weather helicopters that cant fly through clouds. WTF?

Odd survey I had to take for American National Govt.

I had to take a rather weird survey for my class the other day. I start reading it, and being the somewhat staunch libertarian, I really didnt fit their little mold on these questions. There were so many false dichotomies and no middle ground. "Which do you agree with more: Facism or Anarchy" sort of stuff. So, after I took it, it told me that I was a New Prosperity Independent, which is described as:

COMMENTS: Affluent and less religious, this group is basically non-partisan with a slight lean toward the Republican Party. New Prosperity Independents are highly satisfied with the way things are going in the country. A majority approves of Bill Clinton, yet tends to be critical of government. One-third consider themselves Internet enthusiasts. Two-thirds favor having a third major political party in addition to the Democrats and Republicans.
DEFINING VALUES: Pro-business, pro-environment and many are pro-choice. Sympathetic toward immigrants, but not as understanding toward black Americans and the poor. Somewhat critical of government. Tolerant on social issues.
WHO THEY ARE: Well educated (38% have a college degree), affluent (almost one-fourth earn at least $75,000) and young (70% less than age 50). Slightly more men than women (55% to 45%, respectively). Less religious (only 13% go to church weekly).

That doesnt describe me at all. I am somewhat Republican leaning, but only how the GOP used to be, "for small government." The survey makes me sound anti-black-people. I dont approve of Bill Clinton. Everyone is pro-environment, but I am not one to give up everything because some enviro-nazi says to do so. I am QUITE critical of the government as it now stands. Ok, so the "Who they are" is correct. I am in college, and a young white male. I havent gone to church in 13 years, sans the occasional religious event with the grandparents.

As a few people on The Highroad put it, the survey:

I just dont know about society these days. When people are trying to get a balanced view of what people think and then taint the survey in their favor (I really dont know what these people's agenda truely is...), well, it just doesnt bode well in my opinion.
